SRG Monthly Meeting - Jun 18
Source: Savannah River Group

Posted: Tuesday, June 11, 2013
  • Topic: "The Domesticated Chicken"
  • Date: Tuesday, Jun 18, 2013
  • Time: 06:30 pm
  • Place: 3501 Walton Way Extension, Augusta, GA [map]
Dr. Lehr Brisbin will join us and interested *backyard* chicken fanciers in a presentation on the origins of the domesticated chicken from its likely Asian ancestors, Red Jungle Fowl.

Dr. Brisbin has been researching this topic and raising these Asian birds for many years at the Savannah River Ecology Lab prior to his recent retirement. His research has much relevancy to the diseases and genetics of the world's most common bird and our biggest source of animal protein.

DATE: Tuesday, Jun-18-2013. TIME: 6:30pm. PLACE: Unitarian Universalist Church.
