Georgia Sierra Club outings are open to members and non-members alike. A few outings may require membership, but most do not. There is no charge, although outings leaders may solicit a nominal voluntary donation to support the program.
  • If you would like to receive this list periodically via e-mail, subscribe to the GA-OUTINGS mailing list. For more information about this and other Club lists, go to Lists.
  • In order to participate in one of the Sierra Club's outings, all participants need to sign a liability waiver. If you would like to read a copy of the waiver prior to the outing, please see http://www.sierraclub.org/outings/chapter/forms or contact an outings leader.
  • All outings begin and end at trailheads. Participants are responsible for their own transportation.
  • Trip rating system: Our dayhikes, backpacking and flatwater trips are rated using a <distance-pace-elevation> system. Thus, a trip rated 11-M-48 is a 11 mile round trip, medium pace (2-3 miles per hour), with a total elevation change of 4800 feet. For a more detailed explanation of this system, ask an outings leader, or go to Ratings.
  • Frequently Asked Questions: Our FAQ has answers to common outings questions.

  • For membership and other general information, contact the Chapter Office

**Note: The information presented in the liability waiver may not be reproduced in any publication other than Sierra Club internal publications without the express written consent of the Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club.
