Georgia Sierra Club outings are open to members and non-members alike. A few outings may require membership, but most do not. There is no charge, although outings leaders may solicit a nominal voluntary donation to support the program.

Jul 25:     Outdoor Leadership and First Aid Training 101

 · Descr: Do you have that special place that you would like to share with like minded people" Would you like to be part of an outings program that has existed since 1901" The Sierra Club is holding Outdoor Leader training 101 (OLT 101) on Saturday, July 25, which is the first step to becoming a certified outings leader. You will learn the requirements for leading outings and also receive practical leadership training. There is no cost for the OLT 101 course. The training course is held only twice a year in the Atlanta area and attendance is limited to 10 people. The training will be held at the chapter office located at 1401 Peachtree Street, NE, Suite 345, and will run from 8 AM to 12 PM. Please contact Edward Scholl at edscholl@bellsouth.net if you would like to sign up. First Aid Training, which is also required for outings leader certification, is to be held that same afternoon in the chapter office from 1 PM to 4 PM. The cost of the first aid training is $25, and subject to the availability of funds, the Chapter Outings Committee will reimburse an individual for the cost when they become a certified Sierra Club Outings leader.

 · Rated: {4 miles  /  2 to 3 mph  /  1500 ft elev gain}
 · Descr: Hike to the "pulpit" a huge 100 foot rock outcrop with great views, if clear, of the nearby valley. The area is reportedly a great spot for summer wildflowers. Moderate pace. Contact volunteer leader Lee Thomas at 770-458-3389.

 · Rated: {4 miles  /  2 to 3 mph  /  250 ft elev gain}
 · Descr: This is a perennial favorite of the Sierra Club. It is a long drive but well worth it. Count on seeing a few waterfalls on this trip. Rated 4-M-5. Limit 12 Contact ArthurRatliff@Bellsouth.net, or 404-284-0055
