 Georgia Chapter positions:

The Georgia Chapter needs you! We're looking for members who would like to take an active role in protecting the planet. Here are the position(s) that currently need to be filled:

  • [volunteer] Smart Energy Solutions Committee
    The Smart Energy Solutions Committee is looking for leaders to get involved in the Coal Campaign. Concerned about global warming? Clean air and energy? Or a sustainable future for Georgia. We're looking for passionate, dedicated leaders to participate on the committee and help facilitation the actions of the Coal Campaign, to help keep coal out of Georgia's future.   • [volunteer] Membership Engagement Committee
    We are looking for a few good people to help work on outreach events like film screenings, picnics, new member events, newsletter articles, and a data gathering project. This committee also helps mobilize activists and builds Sierra&nbp;Club membership to protect the environment.   • [volunteer] Wildlands Committee
    Our Wildlands and Wildlife Committee needs more volunteers to help protect Georgia's beautiful forests. This committee (1) reviews U.S. Forest Service scoping notices, (2) submits comment letters to changes proposed for federal or state protections, (3) organizes several National Forest Service projects for trail clean-ups in North Georgia, (4) works to support the Mountain Wilderness bill in Congress for expansion of Georgia's wilderness designations, and (5) helps protect the Roadless Rule.   • [volunteer] Fundraising Committee
    Are you interested in being involved with the Sierra Club's most important committee? If you want to help protect the environment, the biggest impact you can have is by helping the Sierra Club raise funds for our programs and organizations. This is an opportunity to work with great volunteers and staff, get a peek behind the nonprofit curtain, and have fun volunteering your time. We work on projects involving sponsorships, direct mail appeals, host committees, event planning, grant writing, and more. We meet in the Midtown Atlanta area on the 4th Monday of each month at 7pm. Volunteer for a Campaign!
 
  • Smart Energy Solutions Campaign
    The Smart Energy Solutions Campaign works to promote renewable energy use in Georgia's electrical generation technology mix, clean up existing generation facilities, work to eliminate pollution from existing coal fired power plants and to clean up Georgia's air.

     

  • National Forest Campaign
    Volunteers for the National Forest Campaign are working to celebrate, protect and restore the biodiversity of Georgia's forests, and to educate the public about this valuable historic and natural resource.

  • Sprawl Campaign
    During the past two years the Sierra Club's "Georgia Challenge to Sprawl Campaign" has successfully used litigation and public education to convince leaders in the Atlanta region to deal with highway-based sprawl. Now we are organizing local and county-based coalitions of environmental organizations, neighborhood associations, and others to support Smart Growth for just and sustainable communities. We are also building a coalition throughout the Atlanta region for our Smart Growth and Smart Transportation agendas.
