Earth Day 2007

Saturday, April 21, 2007

The Earth is such a cool place to live! Where else can you find banana slugs and elephants, Venus flytraps and sunny yellow daffodils, parched desert flats, and ice-encrusted mountain peaks?

Please Join Us! The Sierra Club will salute Earth Day, with a nod toward the sun, the wind, the land, and solutions for taking better care of this planet we call home.

Join the Celebration!

Global Warming Petition

So you take personal responsibility to curb global warming by getting your home energy-efficient. Then you start working with your mayor toward creating a Cool City that's doing its part, too. But decision-makers at the federal level just don't seem to be on board with the game plan.

Send a message to President Bush that America deserves a better energy future, and that he needs to take the lead to get us heading in the right direction.

Please sign our Global Warming petition.

Membership Special

$25 Sierra Club membership with expedition pack.

Why join the Sierra Club? Because we need you! Your voice will be added to those of more than 750,000 of your fellow Americans who are committed to leave our children a living legacy - clean air, clean water, and natural grandeur.

Inspired by nature, we work together to protect our communities and the planet. So please -- join the Sierra Club and join the fight to protect the planet!

Mr. Green Asks: Is Your Home Cool?

President Bush won't take the lead on fighting global warming, but you can! There are very simple things you can do to make your home and lifestyle more energy efficient--as simple as screwing in a lightbulb, in fact.

Walk through a real house on our Cool Home Tour with Sierra magazine's take-no-prisoners answer man, Mr. Green, and you'll learn how to have a cool house, save money, and help chip away at a threat that faces us all. Download Mr. Green's Cool Home Checklist and tour your own abode to see what you're doing right and where you've got room to improve. What a great way to celebrate Earth Day!

Next Step: Is Your City Cool?

All over America, communities are taking action to help solve global warming. From hybrid vehicle fleets in Charlotte, to green buildings in Austin, and homes powered with renewable energy in Seattle, local governments are moving forward with innovative energy solutions that curb global warming, save taxpayer dollars, and create healthier cities. At a time when the federal government is failing to act, these local leaders are moving America toward a safer and more secure future.

So what is a Cool City? These are cities that have made a commitment to stopping global warming by signing the U.S. Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement. The Cool Cities campaign helps cities turn their commitments into action by pushing for smart energy solutions.
