Date and Time: 3 November 1998 19:30-21:30

Location: Alan Toney's home

Attendees: Mark Alexander, Ted Jackson, Lee Thomas, Alan Toney, Carolyn Weber, Janet Westervelt, Randall White, Larry Winslett, Bob Woodall

Agenda: There was no agenda.

Nov. Program: The Utah Wilderness Coalition meeting logistics were discussed.

Minutes: The October 98 minutes were adopted as written.

Treasurer: Reported ahead of budget. FRIP has still not come in. The Foundation account has increased $1,000. The National Foundation office wants to shutdown our 501c3 (SC Foundation) account. Guidelines for spending the money exists. Some money should be spent. Proposed budget for 1999 is very different. FRIP money will be proportional to membership in 1999. However, Chapter finances are a big mess. New procedures are being implemented to straighten out the Chapter's problems. After discussion, the 1999 proposed Dues should change to $1,800. Outings income is down due to the inability to ask for donations and no longer running a backpacking seminar. Audit of Group finances occurred. Other expenses are solid. Total income should be up. The extra income was split $600 for lobbying and $525 non-lobbying conservation expenses. CPA recommended that excess funds be moved to Pax World Fund. Current balance is $4,762. There was discussion about how funds should be invested. The transfers (to the Pax World Fund) will be stricken from the time being, until additional information can be obtained about CDs (certificates of deposit). Janet motioned to approve the 99 budget with amendments; Ted seconded motion; motion passed unanimously.

CPA Audit: The CPA found that the audit was accurate. There were no deficiencies in the accounting records. One thing was given in wrong category. Some outstanding checks caused the amount to be off $167. A bookstore inventory is needed. The Atlanta Group Treasurer will provide a copy of our audit to the Chapter and the Atlanta Group will request a copy of 1997 Chapter Audit.

Elections: It is time for Atlanta Group elections. A slate of candidates is being developed. Janet, Herb, Ted and Randall will run for the two open slots.

Dec. Program: Lee Thomas will show slides about Peru and Machu Picchu. Need a write-up for the newsletter.

Group Newsletter: Need a report on progress on Website from Herb.

Outings: Need more and more leaders to lead outings.
