The Sierra Student Coalition is the student arm of the Sierra Club, the nation's largest and oldest grassroots environmental organization. Like the Sierra Club, the SSC is run by volunteers between the ages of 14 and 30 who work on national and local campaigns that promote smart energy solutions and protect the environment.
Student Environmental Leadership Training
The Sierra Student Coalition develops environmental leaders through its award winning grassroots trainings programs and work to maximize its campus-based effectiveness through the creation and maintenance of state and national networks of high school and college-aged youth.
Each year, the SSC sponsors for high school and college
students who want to make a difference as environmental leaders. Participants learn how to start campus groups, run effective campaigns, and work with the media.
They also enjoy hikes, games, and fireside chats with guest speakers from the environmental movement.
